RGB-RV-300 Instructions

Thank you for purchasing our Blackhawk RV awning lighting kit.
We've had a tremendous amount of excitement over the endless uses and incredible performance from this LED strip lighting technology. We've also had some misunderstanding of how the product hooks together and functions. It is highly recommended to sit down plug this unit in and make sure you understand how all the connections and remote control work before installation.
First step is to simply take the spool of LEDs and set it on your counter. Next take the LED controller which is labeled and notice there is a small red triangle that marks the positive, the positive side needs to plug into the LED strip lighting on the same side as the very small little black arrow on the strip light connector and also has the white wire on that side.

Next plug the power pack supplied into the white round lead of the LED controller. Then plug into 120 volt plug in. Now if it's hooked up correctly you should have flashing colored lights and the only thing left to do is to pull the plastic TAB out of the bottom of the remote control to let the battery power up your remote control. If the lights power up blue you have the positive and negative wires reversed and must be switched. Go ahead and play with the color selection and the flashing fading options on your new light strip. Do not leave on for more than 3 minutes at a time because it will heat up the strips and loosen the tape cover on the back of your strip lighting which will not be a problem once the lights are unrolled. At this point it may be a good idea to judge for yourself if this project is something you can handle or should take in and have a professional install your light strip.
Now that you have a good understanding of how the unit functions you can proceed with your installation on your specific situation. If you want to use the 12 volt system already in your RV, Camper or Boat choose the small power cord that has the RED positive and BLACK negative raw wire connections instead of the 120 volt to12 volt converter.
One nice feature of our Blackhawk LED lights is if you mistakenly hook them up negative to positive polarity it will not damage the lights but they simply will not function correctly until they're hooked up properly.

We have also included some other connectors for cutting and splicing and extending the LED strips. Just be advised this is a much more advanced. Delicate procedure and requires some expertise. Every cut and connection you makemultiplies the possibilities of connection failure down the road. That being said if you have the ability to cut and splice the possibilities are endless.

INSTALLATION TIPS
For a professional-looking installation use painters tape to make a perfectly straight line, then stick the LED strip lights above or below the line so they come out straight.
It's important not to stretch the LED lights which can cause breakage in the circuitry.
No turns are recommended also because it may break the circuitry. You can use the included connector to cut the strip and make a very tight corner if you need to.
If you don't need the full five meter strip it is simple to cut them at the scissor marks on the strip and then use a high-quality silicone to seal the ends where you made the cut.
Some surfaces can be tricky to adhere to also high heat climates can make it hard for the adhesive to stick to certain surfaces. If you have a surface that the strip lights don't like to stick to it is recommended to use a professional-grade Adhesive on parts of the strip or the whole thing. One product we've had excellent success with is the 3M super weatherstrip adhesive.

We recommend to use the 1-meter extension cord if you need to move your radio frequency controller away from the outdoors or any wet areas. These led strips are waterproof but the controlling unit and the wire connections should be kept dry.
For most installations when this is used as a RV Under awning light. Install the strip drill a small hole that is just big enough to put the white cord through and then silicone the hole. Try to come thru the wall behind a cabinet where you can make your wire connections and install the radio frequency controller out of the weather. A 7.5 amp fuse should be used for protection of the LED lights.

Once you know everything is functioning then use the supplied heat shrink tubing to cover and seal the two connections on each end of the radio frequency controller. You can cut the supplied heat shrink into two pieces and use it at both ends of the controller connections. Most hair dryers will work fine on high to shrink the tubing and secure your connections. This is not mandatory but really does help ensure the connections don't vibrate loose over time.
If your strip lights when powered up come on blue then you know you have the polarity reversed on your strip lights and simply need the power supply wires to be switched.
The last thing is enjoy your new Blackhawk LED multi-colored light system to its fullest it is such a fun way to create some mood lighting with the different colors and flashing and fading options. We encourage you to play with all the different modes and find your favorites!
